Meet Presley – Grant Halliburton Foundation’s marketing and events intern for the summer.

Originally from Midlothian, Texas, Presley is entering her senior year at the University of Oklahoma, where she’s majoring in public relations. She’s passionate about storytelling, social media, and making a difference through meaningful communication. During her time with the Foundation, Presley is gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing and event promotion.

Here are 10 things to know about Presley!

1. What was your first job?

My first job was working at my dad’s company for a summer, but I would consider interning at Grant Halliburton Foundation to be my first real job.

2. What’s your guilty pleasure?

I love music that is straight out of a 2000s TV drama.

3. What advice would you give to your teenage self?

Stop trying to grow up so fast.

4. What’s your favorite movie scene and why?

My favorite scene is from the movie “Almost Famous,” when they are on the bus singing “Tiny Dancer,” and William says, “I need to go home,” and Penny Lane replies, “You are home.” I love everything about the movie, but this is my favorite scene because it signifies the shift in William’s understanding of what home is and his place in this world. It represents the idea that home can be the people in your life rather than a physical place.

5. What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I have a black belt in Karate!

6. What would you name the autobiography of your life?

“Pres Play: Living on Shuffle”

7. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

I love to spend any free time I have with friends and family. I’m also an aspiring DJ, so I practice that a lot as well.

8. What are the top three TV shows you’re watching right now?

“Sex and The City,” “The O.C.,” and “One Tree Hill”

9. Where’s your favorite travel destination and why?

My favorite place is Whistler, Canada. I love the mountains, and I love to ski and snowboard! We went there for my brother’s 19th birthday 10 years ago, and I’ve wanted to go back ever since.

10.  Why is Grant Halliburton Foundation’s mission important to you?

The Foundation’s mission is important to me because I know many people my age who struggled with their mental health in high school, and some still do today. Although mental health is talked about more now than it was when I was in high school, it wasn’t discussed enough. I support this mission, and I’m excited to be a part of an organization that is making a real difference.
