Hope lives here in North Texas—in our schools, in our neighborhoods, and in the lives of young people and families who find support through Grant Halliburton Foundation.
It’s a student learning to reach out for help. A parent finally finding the right resources for their child. A community coming together to say: mental health matters.
Every day, we see hope come alive in the lives we touch. And with your support this North Texas Giving Day, that hope can reach even further—bringing mental health education, resources, and support to communities across North Texas.
Be the reason a young person chooses hope.
Hope Lives Here in North Texas
We went across North Texas to listen to stories from people like Marcela, Sholonda, Rebekah, Kevin, and Amber—five voices connected by one mission: supporting youth mental health and building a community of hope.
From peer support and school-based programs to support groups for moms and the Here For Texas Mental Health Navigation Line, each story highlights the real impact of Grant Halliburton Foundation’s impact on the communities we serve in North Texas.
Marcela in Fort Worth
Meet Marcela, a mom from Charlas con un Cafecito, our support group for Spanish-speaking women. Her story is a powerful reminder that connection, support, and community can make all the difference—and that hope lives here in North Texas.
Amber in Coppell
Meet Amber, a volunteer navigator who answers calls on our Here For Texas Mental Health Navigation Line. Her story shows the power of listening, guidance, and compassion—and how a single call can connect someone to the help and hope they need.
Sholonda in Plano
Meet Sholonda, a Plano ISD school counselor, who never misses Grant Halliburton Foundation’s When Life Hands You Teenagers conference, designed to help educators support the mental health and well-being of today’s youth. Each year, she brings back new insights to her school, showing the difference educators can make when they have the right tools, resources, and knowledge to support their students’ mental health.
Rebekah and Kevin in Dallas
Rebekah, a school counselor at Christ the King Catholic School in Dallas, leads and advises her campus Hope Squad—a peer-to-peer program that trains students to recognize warning signs of suicide and connect their classmates to trusted adults. Among her student leaders is Kevin, whose role on Hope Squad shows how powerful peer support can be in creating a safe and caring school culture. Together, they demonstrate how counselors and students working side by side can build a community of hope, connection, and lifesaving support.
Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online giving event designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits and causes they care about in one easy-to-use platform.
Since its inception in 2009, this online event has transformed from an idea to help local people give wisely, to a movement that has ignited a broad culture of community-wide giving. During North Texas Giving Day, everyone has the opportunity to be a philanthropist to build a stronger and more vibrant community. This year, the 15th annual North Texas Giving Day will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
